Government Shutdown Support

Updated: January 23, 2026

We are monitoring developments closely and are preparing in advance to support eligible customers if we enter a government shutdown at the end of January. Direct deposit with CVB allows us to act quickly for our customers during these hardships.

If a shutdown occurs, we will advance payroll for active-duty service members who are CVB or Frontwave Credit Union customers with direct deposit for any impacted pay cycles. We will also support DoD employees and other federal workers who are CVB or Frontwave Credit Union customers with direct deposit by offering access to a zero-interest emergency loan.

When military pay stopped during the most recent government shutdown, Frontwave Credit Union moved fast, advancing $50 million in payroll for more than 33,000 active-duty service members and DoD civilians. Using established direct deposit information, Frontwave sent pay automatically and provided zero-interest emergency loan options while coordinating directly with Marine Corps leadership to deliver fast, reliable relief. Read more on the Frontwave Credit Union website.

Frontwave Credit Union has supported military and federal communities through past disruptions and remain ready to do so again if needed. If a disruption occurs, we will provide clear updates and guidance on our actions. Read more about our transition to Frontwave Credit Union.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if I just set up direct deposit?
Only active-duty service members with qualifying direct deposits at CVB or Frontwave received on or before January 30, 2026, are eligible for this shutdown’s payroll advance. New deposits set up after that date won’t qualify, but switching now can help protect future pay.

Will cost-of-living increases or promotions be reflected in the advance?
No. Payroll advances are estimated based on your recent direct deposits.

Can new customers join and qualify now?
Payroll advances are limited to active-duty service members with qualifying direct deposits at CVB or Frontwave received on or before January 30, 2026. New customers can still set up direct deposit now to ensure eligibility for future situations.

What if I am a civilian DoD or federal employee who was furloughed?
If you are a civilian DoD or federal employee furloughed during a shutdown, we offer zero-interest emergency loans to qualifying customers who have not yet received their pay. More details will be provided if a shutdown occurs.

What if I don’t qualify for a payroll advance and need help?
You may be eligible for a zero-interest emergency loan or loan payment relief options such as skip-a-payment or extensions.
